Tail Docking Explained

The majority of puppies we raise have  naturally bobbed tails. However, according to AKC’s Australian Shepherd breed standard, “the tail is straight, docked or naturally bobbed, not to exceed four inches in length.”

Puppies that are born with tails have them banded  3 days after they are born.

I am happy to leave the tails for companion homes.
